The cost-of-living crisis in the UK is leaving its mark on those already at the margins of society and there appears to be no clear end in sight.

According to Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) research, 3.8 million people experienced destitution, the most extreme form of poverty, in the UK last year, which included 1 million children.

That’s the equivalent of almost half the population of London being unable to meet their most basic needs to stay warm, dry, clean and fed.

Adults reported a frequent inability to afford more than one meal a day, often going without, to ensure their children could eat.

As the days grow darker and the weather colder, those already struggling with food poverty and insecurity need sustenance, warmth and shelter more than ever to get them through this winter.

Your contribution would ensure that these vulnerable individuals receive a hot nutritious meal, snacks and warm drinks served by a smiling AMURT volunteer. This not only feeds their stomach but also their soul and gives them back some dignity.

Every Thursday, come rain, snow or shine, AMURT will be out on the streets of Hackney and Holborn and in our new centre in Clapton, feeding and distributing essential items to those in need.

The need for these meals is increasing every day.

We want to increase the number of meals we can produce per week to meet this growing demand, but our sources of surplus food are decreasing due to an increase in the number of foodbanks in London. This means that we have to resort more and more to having to buy ingredients to be able to meet this increased demand.

We can only do this with your help.

Your donation will directly buy the raw ingredients and supplies that will be transformed into delicious and nutritious meals for those bearing the brunt of this crisis.

It costs us £2.50 to provide one nutritious hot meal, hot drinks and snacks for a hungry person. For as little as £10 you can feed 4 people.

How many vulnerable people are you able to feed this winter?

Any contribution will be used exclusively to buy ingredients and supplies and will be gratefully received by our service users.
